ACM Celebration of Women in Computing: Scientia Karachi (SKCWiC) – 2025

The first Science Writing Workshop in Karachi, organized by Scientia Pakistan in collaboration with the Natural Science Club at Habib University, was held on September 12-13. Sponsored by ACM-W’s “Celebration of Women in Computing” initiative, the two-day event aimed to bridge the gap between media, academia, and the general public and share awareness about science writing opportunities as well as introduce participants to the science communication landscape in the country.
Over 65 students and professionals attended training sessions by renowned journalists and experts, focusing on discovering, pitching, and writing compelling science stories. Highlights included a panel discussion on “Science & Accessibility,” keynote speeches, themed writing sessions, virtual discussions, and sessions with science communication experts from Pakistan and abroad.
